The Effects of Drugs on Bodily systems

The infographic presented was formulated to appeal to drug abusers and to bring awareness to the opioid pandemic and to the individuals who continue to be affected by drug and alcohol addiction. The organizational pattern that is displayed was chosen because drug users tend to have poor vision, therefore a dark background and bold and bright letters were used because it is more accommodating, which will allow the readers to see the infographics easier and more accurately without the need to squint making it difficult for them to read the information of the flyer. The information was formatted to fit in small, numbered boxes, which allowed the reader to read the information in an orderly fashion. The information was also concise and accurate allowing the audience to get all the necessary information for each body system/organ that drugs affected. This not only saves the audience’s time but is also environmentally friendly which will limit the amount of paper and ink used.

The graphics were chosen not only to provide a visual representation of how drugs affect the body, but I wanted it to be interactive. The first organ that was presented on the flyer was the brain, I wanted to show that extensive use of the recreational drug causes brain abnormalities and impairs basic cognitive thinking. Therefore because of this, individuals might not remember what these organs look like, so these pictures were placed specifically to aid in their understanding and allowed them to remember and fully recognized how these organs are affected.

The intention of this infographic flyer was to bring awareness to drug addiction and its effects on the body. Upon making this flyer, I intended for the audience to realize that addiction is hard, and it affects all systems not just to provide short-term relief but over time it may affect one’s health. I intend for this flyer to be placed in areas such as doctor’s offices, schools, and community bulletin boards. This will help with reaching a wider audience and bring more awareness to this ongoing issue.
